10 Hotly Anticipated Movies of 2012
Here are some anticipated movies set to be released in theaters this year. Sure, they’re more out there so feel free to add!
April 20th
- “Think Like a Man”
Four friends conspire to turn the tables on their women after discovering the ladies have been using Steve Harvey’s relationship advice against them.
Hype Factor: I first heard about the book last year from my college dorm mate. Now comes the movie— based off said best-selling book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey.
May 4th
- “The Avengers”
Nick Fury and the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. bring together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki & his army.
Hype Factor: Marvel Comics’ characters band together to fight a mutual enemy.
May 11th
- “Dark Shadows”
An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.
Hype Factor: Based on the ABC soap that aired from 1966 – 1971. Another Tim Burton and Johnny Depp collabo—hello!
May 25th
- “Men In Black 3″
Agent J travels in time to MIB’s early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history.
Hype Factor: Many people have been wondering about the about 3rd installment to the MIB franchise.
July 20th
- “The Dark Knight Rises”
Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes, Bane overwhelms Gotham’s finest and the Dark Knight resurfaces.
Hype Factor: Anticipation has been boiling since the ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008), when Heath Ledger’s performance blew everyone out the water.
August 17th
- “Sparkle”
Set in the 1960s, three sisters form a girl group and soon become Motown sensations, but fame becomes a challenge as the close-knit family begins to fall apart.
Hype Factor: After the late Whitney Houston passed away, I’m sure some people out there won’t want to miss her last project.
October 5th
- “Taken 2″
In Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter.
Hype Factor: Sequel to the 2008 smash film and Liam Neeson reprises his role. ‘Nuff said.
November 16th
- “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn pt. 2″
After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi.
Hype Factor: The Saga is finally coming. To. An. End. A big hoorah!
December 14th
- “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”
A curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of Dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug.
Hype Factor: Lord of the Rings, anyone?
December 25th
- “The Great Gatsby”
You all know the story. Gatsby wants Daisy and can’t have her. Gatsby dies. Nick watches it all in fascination.
Hype Factor: Toby McGuire and Leonardo DiCaprio. But yeah go out and see this and write that paper. I’m kidding.
